MicroCenter gives away $100 Steam Gift Card with RTX 40 GPUs

Buy one card, get two (Graphics Card and Gift Card).

Some gamers were surprised (positively and negatively) to hear that the RTX 4070 GPU will be available for $200 less than the RTX 4070 Ti. But today it is NVIDIA and all board partners who are surprised that even with such a price difference it is not enough to convince customers to get one of the latest NVIDIA RTX 40 GPUs.

As we enter second week after the RTX 4070 launch, there is certainly no issue of supply. The RTX 4070 is available everywhere, and it is available for less than some might expect, but not necessary in the US. To combat troubling sales, large US retailer MicroCenter has just started giving away $100 worth of Steam Gift cards with all RTX 40 GPUs currently listed on the site.

A gift card is not a price cut, but it is worth noting that there are online platforms that allow people to exchange gift cards balance for money. Even if we are talking about 15% cut, that’s still $85 off the purchase of an RTX 4070 GPU. Unfortunately, this US retailer is thus far the only chain that decided to somehow make the RTX 4070 price more attractive. However, things are looking better in other regions.

GeForce RTX 4070 selling under MSRP

Each day there is a new retailer offering RTX 4070 under MSRP. This is no longer a localized deal, but also not permanent or official deal in partnership with NVIDIA. Deals with prices going as low as 9% below MSRP can now often be seen at different retailers. It appears that some are simply trying to push the inventory, given that there was lower interest from customers for a week now.

MSRP → Current lowest price:

  • Germany: 649 EUR  → 599 EUR (-9%)
  • China: 4,799 CNY → 4,499 CNY (-6%)
  • Poland: 3199 PLN → 2949 PLN (-8%)

All those price cuts and deals are just one week after the RTX 4070 launch. There is no doubt more price adjustments coming soon. Otherwise, retailers will have to reevaluate their margins, possibly even before NVIDIA does.
