Thunderobot MIX launches in August

One of the most interesting gaming devices of this year is undoubtedly the MIX. Positioned as a viable alternative to the NUC 12 Serpent Canyon, which boasts Intel Alder Lake and Arc GPU, makes the MIX a strong contender for those seeking an upgrade. A viable upgrade path is provided by the combination of the newer Intel Raptor Lake and NVIDIA Ada Lovelace mobile GPU.

The MIX stands out with its compact 1.7-liter chassis, weighing a mere 800 grams without the charger. Notably, its design is reminiscent of Dell’s old Alienware Alpha R2 systems, which featured Intel Haswell architecture paired with the GeForce GTX 900 GPU series. However, the MIX is now an entirely different beast, sporting much newer Raptor Lake architecture.

In terms of specifications, the MIX offers a choice between two Raptor Lake mobile processors: the 14-core Intel Core i9-13900H or the 10-core i7-13620H. Gamers can also choose between 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512GB or 1TB of storage. The most impressive feature, however, is the option of with either an RTX 4060 or RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with up to 140W power. Such specifications are usually found in high-end gaming laptops, but the MIX is catering to a different purpose.

The gaming orientation of the MIX is no secret, as it is designed to serve as a portable gaming rig. The RTX 4070 graphics card should be more than sufficient for 1440p gaming and potentially even handle 4K, depending on the title and use of upscaling technology. Additionally, the memory can be upgraded to 32GB, and there is an option for 1TB storage, making the system relatively future-proof.

Thunderobot has officially confirmed that the MIX will launch this month. However, specific pricing and the exact launch date have not been shared yet.
