Schenker, a German gaming laptop maker today announced that their new XMG APEX 15 laptop will support AMD Ryzen 9 processors.
XMG APEX 15 with Ryzen 9 3950X
XMG APEX 15 will support 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X processor in 65W Eco Mode, the company confirms. Their new ultra-high-end laptop will support AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs up to 65W for AM4 socket. It will also feature NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 dedicated graphics (there is no mention of Max-Q design).
The APEX 15 is a 15.6″ laptop with a 1920×1080 IPS panel rated at 144 Hz. Additionally up to 64GB of DDR4-3200MHz memory is supported and there is even space for two M.2 NVMe drives and 2.5-inch drive. This combination requires a power supply of 230 Watts.
AMD’s most powerful Ryzen processors were previously found only in desktop PCs. Now, for the first time, the XMG APEX 15 has integrated these lightning fast CPUs into the portable format of a 15.6-inch laptop. With the 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X model, the top configuration utilizes the current performance king in this class, delivering permanently high performance thanks to the first-class notebook cooling. This also compliments NVIDIA’s fast RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 graphics cards in their Max-P incarnation. Thanks to this unconventional, but winning combination, the XMG APEX 15 is not only aimed at demanding gamers but also opens the door to a new performance dimension for professional users.
The basic version of APEX 15 with Ryzen 5 3600 costs 1337 EUR. You can configure your own APEX 15 through this website.
A configuration with Ryzen 9 3950X, RTX 2070, 32GB of 2666 MHz RAM and 1TB NVME drive cost 2631 EUR. Laptops are expected to ship in 7 to 10 weeks.
At CES 2020 Schenker confirmed a return to making AMD-based laptops.
