Samsung 990 PRO SSD has been listed as PCIe 5.0 x4 compliant add-in card by PCI-SIG. This confirms both the product name and the fact that Samsung consumer storage has already been verified for Gen5 specs. The 990 PRO SSD feature M.2 interface, but this leak does not confirm the exact M.2 size of the drive.

Samsung already launched first PCIe Gen5 PM1743 SSDs, except those were Enterprise SSDs. Those 2.5 to 3-inch SSDs are offering up to 13,000 MB/s random speeds and up to 2500K IOPS, delivering up to 1.9x faster speeds over Gen4 products.

The Gen5.0 storage can be utilized by some Intel Alder Lake systems and will soon available for all X670 and B650 AMD AM5 motherboard series. While PCIe 5.0 conformity for AMD 600-seires chipset is optional for the GPUs, all mid-range and high-end motherboard series should support the Gen5 storage with at least one M.2 slot.
