A Preproduction Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card appears on a second hand market
Redditor “Clumsyhotdog” discovered that an offer for a used Radeon GPU was actually a sale of preproduction sample.
The Redditor noted that the card was offered at a reasonable price, with a discount of $300-$400 off the MSRP. On the other hand, we are looking at a reference model that was probably made before mass production. It is possible that the card has issues with the vapor chamber, which was a big topic in early January.
It is not uncommon to encounter preproduction samples of a graphics card, but they are uncommon to find on the second-hand market within a relatively short period of time after launch. The exact opposite situation is often seen with the CPU market, with many samples on sale months before launch. However, GPU samples do not always have the same value as CPUs because they might require special software to work or have missing features.

Worth noting that Steve Burke from GamersNexus has stepped in with an offer to buy the sample at full retail price. This means that the Redditor will have a chance to buy the desired Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU from a normal retail channel. Should GN buy the card, one might even say that the internal testing unit will soon get a lot of external testing.
