NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 to see better availability at launch

NVIDIA is slowly preparing to launch its GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card, the 499 USD model designed for 1440p gaming. Due to a very uncertain situation with Ampere availability, we have been regularly checking on the Ampere availability report from a Danish retailer ProShop. The retailer lists how many cards have been ordered from factories, how many have shipped to customers, how many have shipped to ProShop from AIBs, and more importantly, how many are already in stock waiting for first orders.

The current stock information is indeed very interesting. We can already see that RTX 3070 will have a lot more available than RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 at launch, which has been the sole reason for the launch postponement, according to NVIDIA. Pro shop now has 206 graphics cards ready for a sale (which will start on October 29th), compared to 106 units available last week.

Further confirmation of a larger RTX 3070 quantity at launch has already arrived from Japan. PC Watch has received word from retailers selling PC hardware in the Akihabara tech market in Tokyo. They have confirmed that RTX 3070 should indeed see ‘considerably larger availability’ than RTX 3090/3080 series.

We have also been able to confirm directly with AIBs that the availability of the RTX 3070 should be counted in thousands per region. Although we cannot share the exact number, as it varies on each manufacturer, we are being told that at least 4x as many cards should be available compared to GA102-based models.

Interestingly, we have also been told that the same availability is expected from RTX 3060 Ti, the model that NVIDIA has not yet confirmed, but distributors are already taking orders on these cards as well.
