Cheat code turns cubes into ‘real-sized’ RTX 4090s
NVIDIA hid secret QR codes in Portal with RTX, reveals YouTuber 2kliksphilip.
The RTX makeover for Portal brought more than just cutting-edge path and ray tracing into a very popular yet old game. NVIDIA engineers clearly wanted to make this game as ‘Portal’ as possible, by hiding secret QR codes in various places in the game. Those QR codes act like any Portal cheat code but all they do is to change the design of the cubes.

One of the cheat codes turns them into RTX 40 cubes. There is a large axial fan, GPU mounted on the wrong side and two 16-pin power connectors. The YouTuber “2kliksphilip” claims that this is an accurate representation of a real-sized RTX 4090 GPU, and we couldn’t agree more.

The QR codes with cheat codes are scattered in various places and the YouTuber make good progress in finding many of them. There are codes to turn cubes into large lenses or to equip them with cameras (and before you ask, no, that’s not NVIDIA Spot).

There might be more codes hiding somewhere, so make sure to check the game yourself. The RTX update is free to all Portal owners, and it is already available to download. If you want to try the cheat codes that were discovered, check the video below for details.
