The RTX 4080 and 4070 series might be getting a SUPER refresh

NVIDIA is reportedly working on an RTX 40 update.

A hardware leaker known as Hongxing2020, who has a fairly reliable track record, is hinting at the possibility of NVIDIA introducing a SUPER refresh for some of their current models. According to the leak, at least three graphics cards are in consideration for updates.

It’s important to note that NVIDIA has not yet released a SUPER variant within their RTX 30 series, which was already quite extensive. However, it should be reminded that Hongxing2020 did actually previously mentioned an RTX 30 SUPER refresh that did not materialize. Therefore, while the recent track record of this leaker has been more accurate, a degree of skepticism is warranted.

The rumored NVIDIA refresh is said to include three cards: the RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER. However, it’s uncertain whether all of these will actually be launched, and the complete lineup is not yet confirmed.

Additionally, this leak implies that NVIDIA may be introducing its first Ti SUPER card, which would represent a departure from their traditional naming conventions. Historically, “Ti” denoted a higher-spec model released at any time fitting for NVIDIA. In the case of RTX 40 series, one immediately received RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4060 Ti models without much of delay compared to their non-Ti variants. The “SUPER”, on the other hand, was used for mid-series updates when NVIDIA aimed to refresh multiple SKUs, like in this case.

Up to this point, no other reputable leaker has mentioned such an update. However, if it turns out to be true, it’s likely that other sources will eventually provide more information. Since the specific specifications and release date have not been disclosed, speculating on these details would be premature at this stage.
