NVIDIA ADA for content creators entering laptops soon?
NVIDIA is preparing a new series of workstation laptop GPUs.
The just-released GeForce RTX 40 series may soon get more professional variants, indicates the newest info from LaptopVideo2Go.
MSI have released a driver that contained more information than what is publicly available. This driver confirms the following SKU names:
NVIDIA_DEV.2730 = “NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU”
NVIDIA_DEV.27BB = “NVIDIA RTX 3500 Ada Generation Laptop GPU”
NVIDIA_DEV.2838 = “NVIDIA RTX 3000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU”
NVIDIA_DEV.28B8 = “NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU”
The RTX 5000 Ada Laptop GPU is most likely equipped with AD103 GPU, and it should also use 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. In that sense, this would be an RTX 4090 Laptop GPU equivalent for workstation systems.
NVIDIA is also planning an AD104-based RTX 3500 Ada model, but with RTX 4000 series models clearly missing one might assume that this card will not feature full GPU specs. However, it is likely that 192b memory bus and 12GB memory will be available with this upcoming SKU.
In mid-range space, RTX 3000 and RTX 2000 Ada models are reportedly equipped with AD106 and AD107 GPUs respectively. This means that both have up to 128b bus and memory capacity around 4 to 8GB. It definitely won’t be less because that would be a downgrade from Ampere series.
NVIDIA has a GTC (Graphics Technology Conference) planned for March 20, it is possible that RTX Ada Laptop GPUs could be part of the show.
