NVIDIA flagship mobile GPU to have nearly identical specs to desktop XX80-class GPU.

An undisclosed gaming laptop labeled as “X370SNx” by Geekbench software features Intel Core i9-13900HX processor with 24-cores and NVIDIA flagship mobile GPU based on Ada architecture. This system is the first known laptop to be equipped with RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, the most powerful mobile GPU from NVIDIA.

The leak confirms the configuration of this mobile processor, and it indeed looks identical to the desktop RTX 4080 GPU. Both feature AD103 GPU with 76 Streaming Multiprocessors, which gives 9728 CUDA Cores. Furthermore, both cards get 16GB of memory; however, the mobile version should rely on GDDR6 technology while desktop features GDDR6X.

According to this benchmark entry, the card boosts up to 2040 MHz, which is exactly what the leak claimed last week. This means that the GPU offers 38.9 TFLOPs of single-precision compute performance.

In terms of synthetic benchmarks, OpenCL API is not precisely the best benchmark for gaming GPUs. As it stands now, it should end up slower than RTX 4070 Ti desktop GPU and just about faster than RTX 3090 desktop card based on older architecture. It is also 54% faster than still the fastest GeForce RTX 30 mobile GPU (3080 Ti). However, it should be noted that RTX 4090 Laptop GPU is 40% slower than the desktop variant, which could be confusing to customers.

Both the RTX 4070 Ti desktop and RTX 4090 Laptop GPUs are to launch in January. The fact that we are seeing this leak may suggest that laptops have already been delivered to the press for reviews.
