NVIDIA RTX 4080 and AMD RX 7900 XT price slash for Chinese gamers

China leads the way with high-end GPU price cuts.

Is this a sign of imminent price cuts for other regions? Possibly, as the Chinese PC market is always at the forefront when it comes to lowering prices. Many of us recall that Ry zen 7000 was discounted by nearly 15% on the Chinese market, only to see similar changes elsewhere but two to three weeks later.

However, the GPU market is different for all regions. The Chinese market is now full of post-mining GPUs, so gamers have many options. For now, neither AMD nor NVIDIA are helping gamers switch to the latest generation of graphics, as they have exclusively focused on the high-end GPUs.

Things are about to change as NVIDIA is set to launch GeForce RTX 4060 Ti on March 24th, while AMD is now planning to introduce Radeon RX 7600 graphics just a day later. Once that happens, we should finally see some price adjustment for last-gen RTX 3060 and below. For now, the charts are led by Radeon RX 6000 series, now available for up to 47.6% lower price (RX 6900 series), but RX 6500/6600 are also in the minus 40% club.

This is according to a GPU market analysis by one of the Baidu users. It lists all models from RTX 40, RTX 30, RX 7000, RX 6000 and even Intel Arc A-Series with official Chinese retail price and what is currently the lowest price for new GPUs.

When it comes to the latest GPUs, Radeon RX 7900 XT is now available for 25.7% lower price than official MSRP, while the XTX variant only at for -12.8% less. The RTX 4080 from NVIDIA is closely approaching the 7900 XT with its -22.1% discount. Worth noting that the RTX 4070 is already -12.5% cheaper than at launch, probably the quickest price change for NVIDIA yet.
