GeForce RTX 4080/4070 with lower power requirement

Two hardware leakers report on NVIDIA RTX 40 specs.

According to Kopite7kimi, the RTX 4080 and 4070 specs have changed again, but this time the update is only for the power requirements. The previously reported total board power of 420W for RTX 4080 and 300W for RTX 4070 have supposedly been lowered to 320W and 285W respectively. Do note, that this value is not TDP but total board power limit which is higher. The TDP specs have not been mentioned yet.

There is also an update from @KittyYukko (some may remember him as KittyCorgi) who is aware of the model based on PG139 board, the SKU named 340. This model would fit in between RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 specs by offering 14848 CUDA cores and 20GB of GDDR6X memory.

This leak is not attached to any SKU name, so it could be anything from a gaming RTX card to a workstation SKU. In fact, seeing the rotation in specs over the past few weeks, there is no guarantee that such a model will ever be released. However, one might argue that such specs would be perfect for RTX 4080 Ti SKU which might launch next year.

One should mention that the concept of 20GB gaming card is not exactly new to NVIDIA. Such model was planned for RTX 3080 before the company launched 10GB version and later 12GB SKU.

It is now expected that NVIDIA will launch its new RTX 40 series in October, but thus far board partners are not aware of any specific date.
