Following our leak featuring NVIDIA official performance claims, we finally got to see some early and important data from independent testing. It is no secret that the card is already available to the reviewers and retailers, as NVIDIA is readying for the launch of its fourth RTX 40 GPU. At this point, access to this card should be a no problem for the leakers.

As it turns out, the initial test results were already shared on Tieba Baidu forums where someone not only has the card at hand but also a working driver. According to the GPU-Z screenshots, it would appear that the card is factory-overclocked, and it was made by MSI. The software output confirms everything that we have been hearing about the RTX 4070 specs, but it looks like the GPU-Z may need an update to show all the data.

The card was tested on a mid-range system equipped with China-exclusive Core i5-12490F CPU and Intel B660 motherboard. The motherboard was equipped with 32GB of DDR5-3600 memory, which makes us wonder if any reviewer will test RTX 4070 on a DDR4 system. The leaker put the card through a number of 3DMark tests, which gives us a good understanding where it may be positioned.

A quick check with official 3DMark data actually confirms what NVIDIA has partially claimed. The company revealed that RTX 4070 should offer the same performance as RTX 3080 with DLSS but without Frame Generation. It looks like this performance should also be expected from synthetic tests, where RTX 4070 nearly matches RTX 3080. At the same time, RTX 4070 offers 80% of the Ti SKU performance:

The leaker provided more test results featuring CSGO, PUBG, and Dying Light 2 tests at 2K resolution. However, given the nature of this test, it is hard to draw any conclusions.
