NVIDIA RTX 4060 non-Ti tested with 3Dmark
The RTX 4060 launches next week.
NVIDIA RTX 4060 has already been tested by some reviewers, but the results of their work cannot be shared before the official embargo lift on June 28th. Luckily, we managed to obtain some scores from some of them to get a better understanding where the RTX 4060 may land.
It is worth reminding that RTX 4060 is the first desktop graphics card to feature AD107 GPU, but not the first model to launch with a 128-bit memory bus and PCIe Express 4.0 8x interface. Those, combined with memory capacity, should be deciding factors when picking up a modern GPU. NVIDIA has said that the RTX 4060 non-Ti is designed for 1080p gaming, so gamers with 1440p monitors should probably look at older GPUs with more memory and a bigger bus (RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT).
There is also an important thing to remember when comparing RTX 4060 and 3060 series. NVIDIA launched a second SKU with the same name last year. The RTX 3060 8GB has the same CUDA core count as the 12GB model, but due to memory configuration change, the bus has been limited to 128 bits. This has a significant impact on performance. For our comparison, that means a noticeable difference between 12GB and 8GB models.
GeForce RTX 4060 vs. 3060 12GB vs. 3060 8GB
- Speed Way: +16.6% / +58.4%
- Port Royal: +17.2% / +30.7%
- TimeSpy:
- Performance: +30.3% / +55.3%
- Extreme: +32.7% / 61.1%
- FireStrike
- Performance: 19.8% / 38.0%
- Extreme: 23.4% / 41.8%
- Ultra: 19.4% / 50.0%
On average, the RTX 4060 will be 22.8% faster than RTX 3060 12GB in 3DMark tests and 47.9% faster than 8GB Ampere SKU. Although it would make a fair point to compare 4060 only with the 8GB predecessor, NVIDIA is using the original 12GB SKU in the official comparison, which is a good thing. However, the marketing effort has shifted towards promotion of the DLSS3 and Frame Generation tech, and such comparison makes no practical sense in relation to older generations.

Reviewers are using an older 536.20 driver (current official version is 536.23) for their testing. NVIDIA is to release a new driver on June 29th with support for RTX 4060 non-Ti.
