NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU tested

A Chinese YouTube channel has the world’s first review of the GeForce RTX 4060 laptop.

NVIDIA RTX 4070/4060/4060 GPUs are not set to launch until February 22nd, which is also when one should expect reviews of these cards.

It looks like one reviewer has jumped the gun with the early release of their RTX 4060 laptop review. A Chinese ThunderRobot Zero laptop, which packs Intel Core i9-13900HX processor and GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU has been used for a quick gaming test.

Judging from the video, this is the full-fat model (the so-called Max-P) with TDP configured to 140W with NVIDIA Dynamic Boost. Therefore, this is the full implementation of this particular GPU, which in this case means AD107 with 3070 CUDA cores.

This is an entry-level GPU using the smallest die from all NVIDIA Ada Lovelace series. Furthermore, it is attached to a 128-bit memory bus, which might limit performance in some cases.

The reviewer tested the RTX 4060 GPU in 3DMark TimeSpy, where the card reached a score of 10359 graphics points. This means that the card is 23% faster than last-gen RTX 3060 based on Ampere architecture.

The card was also tested in various games, such as Assassin’s Creed or Tomb Raider, where this model has shown performance level above desktop RTX 3060 12GB graphics card:

At 2K (1440p) resolution the RTX 4060 has shown performance level similar to RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU:

The mobile RTX 4060 (AD107) GPU can therefore compete with high-end mobile RTX 30 cards from last generation and mid-range desktop solution such as RTX 3060. This GPU is not designed for high-end gaming though, and 2K resolution is probably as far as the memory bus allows. From the looks of, it should be a suitable option for 1080p gaming with increased texture quality, especially since it packs 8GB of VRAM.

NVIDIA is set to launch its RTX 4050/4060/4070 GPUs next week, on February 22nd to be exact.
