NVIDIA RTX 3060 with GDDR6X memory?

A retailer selling OEM parts for Lenovo is now listing GeForce RTX 3060 with upgraded GDDR6X memory.

There were rumors about GeForce RTX 3060 getting a memory cut to 8GB, but thus far no one mentioned this SKU getting a faster memory type altogether. As late as yesterday, we mentioned that a UK retailer is now preparing to sell RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition with GDDR6X memory, confirming earlier speculation.

If this listing from Slovakian retailer for “Lenovo RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6X” is correct, then this would suggest RTX 3060 non-Ti might follow suit with faster memory as well.

A memory upgrade to GDDR6X standard would probably mean two things, higher memory speed and bandwidth, but also higher TDP. Interestingly, the specifications listed by Slovakian retailer does not appear to show either. The boost clock is still 1.78 GHz and max power consumption appears to be the same 170W.

A quick check on the product code shows that it fits Lenovo RTX 3060 GDDR6 SKU. Therefore, one might assume that this is simply a mistake on the retailer part, or a memory swap on an existing part. Both options are equally plausible, given the recent rumors.
