NVIDIA’s entry-level GeForce RTX 3050 might arrive sooner than previously reported
Not in the second quarter but already in January.
Last week we exclusively reported that NVIDIA RTX 3050 is to feature not GA107 GPU but a more powerful GA106 processor. The report also included information that the card is scheduled to launch in the second quarter next year, without any specific date mentioned. As it turns out, while the specifications so far do check out with other sources, the launch date has been moved up to January.
The claim comes from @hongxing2020, a relatively new person on the GPU leak scene. We have quickly noticed that this person shares confidential information such as release dates of upcoming GPUs, which we have thus far been able to confirm with our sources. While we have not yet been able to confirm the latest date that he shared, it seems that the leaker already knows the on-shelf (aka launch/release) date of the GeForce RTX 3050 model. According to him, NVIDIA’s first entry-level desktop Ampere GPU is now set to launch on January 27th. Of course, we will do our best to confirm this date as well.

This is actually a third source claiming that the card is indeed called RTX 3050 non-Ti. In this case, a more powerful variant can still happen at some point in the future, but this would also suggest that neither of the RTX 3050 cards would feature GA107 GPU.
Just yesterday it was revealed by @kopite7kimi that the card is to feature 8GB GDDR6 memory. This information was not included in our original report but has now also been confirmed by @hongxing2020. The card is rumored to compete in the entry-level 1080p gaming segment, which is so far not populated with any modern GPU architecture.
