NVIDIA GA104 GPUs being validated.
NVIDIA GA104-300 GPU spotted
Earlier this week we covered a story about the first picture of NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ GA104 GPU, which was supposedly going to be used for GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile series (which are still far away from now). It appears that a new photo that just emerged shows a desktop variant going through a validation phase.
Multiple GA104 GPUs can be seen on a tray waiting for validation. The test program reveals that the GPUs are being validated to the 300 spec, which means GA104-300 GPU and GeForce RTX 3070 series.
The GA104-300 GPU is a cut-down variant of the GA104-400 (supposedly the full chip). It features 5888 CUDA cores, 184 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. The graphics processor based on SAMSUNG 8nm node also features 46 RT cores and 184 Tensor cores.
The GPU will be tied to a 256-bit memory bus which will power 8GB of GDDR6 memory for the RTX 3070 series, and possibly more for 16 GB variants that are rumored to come out later.
