MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM CLASSIC, the only RTX 4090 with old GeForce RTX logo
MSI’s second variant of the RTX 4090 SUPRIM is now available in China.
We have recently reported on GAMING CLASSIC, which is a subvariant of the GAMING series for Radeon 7900 GPUs. But there is also a SUPRIM model for RTX 4090 series. What both cards have in common is the fact that they are using a last-gen cooling solution, possibly in an effort to save money.
As it turns out, the SUPRIM Classic has just officially landed in China. What is SUPRising about this launch is the fact that it actually costs just as much as the original model. This means a price of 15999 RMB (~2,355 USD) for SUPRIM X at official MSI store in China. However, one should note that the original SUPRIM X may cost more elsewhere (16499 RMB at JD.com), so this might simply be an awkwardly timed official promotion.

The new model has updated Tri Frozr 3S cooling solution with Torx Fan 5.0, while the old model featured Tri Frozr 2S and Torx 4.0 fans. Furthermore, the newer version has a vapor chamber, which is not available with the Classic version. Both models have the same specs, this means identical clocks and the same TDP, so there should be no difference in performance (as long as specs are considered).

Design-wise, the card looks identical to the RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM series, which uses the same cooler and even has a 16-pin power connector. However, upon closer look one can notice that RTX 4090 has no NVLink connector, and that’s the easiest way to distinguish both models.
And one final thing to note, the RTX 4090 SUPRIM Classic is the only RTX 40 GPU with the old NVIDIA GeForce RTX logo.
