Lenovo Yoga 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition features Ryzen 7 7840S Phoenix APU with 30W TDP
This thin and light laptop exclusively comes with Ryzen 7x40S series.
One month ago, Lenovo unveiled its latest addition to the Yoga laptop series, featuring the powerful Ryzen 7 7840S processor based on the AMD Phoenix architecture. Similar to the Ryzen Z1 processors designed for handheld devices, these APUs come equipped with custom power profiles, with a default 30W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Notably, this TDP is lower than that of the official Ryzen 7 7840HS and the China-exclusive 7840H variants, which boast a 45W TDP.

The Lenovo Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition currently exclusively employs this new AMD APU. It is also offered in a 6-core variant known as the Ryzen 5 7640S. However, the focus of the Chinese media’s review is on the 8-core version. This processor boasts nearly identical specifications to the 45W model, including a maximum boost clock of 5.1 GHz for the Zen4-based CPU and 2.7 GHz for the integrated RDNA3 graphics of the Radeon 780M.

Media outlets conducted various tests on the CPU, including benchmarks like Cinebench, POV Ray, and the Chinese Ludashi benchmark. Overall, the results indicate only a 5% performance difference in favor of the Ryzen 7 7840HS, which consumes 15W more power. The 7840S variant positions itself between the 45W model and the previous-generation Ryzen 9 6900HS in terms of performance.

The laptop boasts a 14-inch OLED screen with 10-touch support, offering a resolution of 2944×1840 and a peak brightness of 600 units. It supports a variable refresh rate of 60/90Hz and provides full coverage of the DPI-P3 color gamut, boasting a delta E accuracy of 1.59. Aside from the CPU, the display is one of the laptop’s standout features, making it a good choice for professionals and content creators. It is also certified for Dolby Vision and Display HDR500.
According to the review, the laptop offers a battery life of 10 to 11 hours according to PC Mark, and this extends to 14 hours with light office work. In terms of overall performance, the CPU temperature can reach up to 75 degrees Celsius under heavy load.

When it comes to performance, thanks to the support of the 30W custom Ryzen 7 7840S, the Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition’s overall performance is on par with that of a 15.6-inch notebook, and even surpasses many thin and light notebooks weighing in at 1.3kg or less. Even when compared to laptops weighing around 2kg, its performance remains at the top tier, claims the reviewer.
The Lenovo Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition comes with a standard configuration featuring the Ryzen 7 7840S processor, 1TB SSD, and is available in two memory options: 16GB for 7,999 yuan (1,094 USD) and 32GB for 8,299 yuan (1,135 USD).
