MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo gets Tiger Lake Refresh

This new 16-inch laptop is to feature Intel’s new Tiger Lake-R series.

Last month Intel confirmed it will launch the TGL-R series later this year. No firm date was given, but the Refresh was listed as a 2021 product. Just a month later, the first products have been listed by retailers and media. Xotic PC has MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo with both CPU options listed on its website. These laptops feature a 16-inch QHD screen and are powered by Intel Tiger Lake CPU with integrated graphics. There is no dedicated graphics card in either of the two laptops. The onboard Intel Iris Xe graphics feature 96 Execution Units, which actually more than Intel’s own Xe-LP-based discrete GPU for desktops (featuring only 80 EUs).

The Core i7-1195G7 Summit E16 Flip model is listed at 1,699 USD, while the i5-1155G7 retails at 1,499 USD. But models can already be customized and preordered.

The site has revealed the specifications of both TGL-R SKUs. The Core i7-1195G7 will feature a base clock of 2.9 GHz and boost up to 5.0 GHz. It is the first low-power Tiger Lake CPU to reach this frequency. It is worth noting that Twitter user @davidbepo correctly predicted this information, contrary to previous leaks and reports which suggested a 4.8 GHz boost clock.

The Core i5-1155G7 will actually have a lower base clock of 2.5 GHz than 1145G7, but the boost will increase to 4.5 GHz. Both SKUs are quad-core and octa-thread processors.

Lenovo is also launching TGL-R based Air 14/15 series. These laptops had already appeared on Chinese ITHome with Core i5-1155G7 processor listed:
