Dolmen is not getting Intel XeSS till summer

Without any explanation whatsoever, the company behind the game Dolmen have backed down from its previous statements. Intel XeSS is not being added to the game any time soon.

We have some sad news to share today with Intel GPU fans, there will be no XeSS super-resolution launch this week. This is contrary to the statements by the game’s producer from last week when he said that XeSS would arrive in a Day One patch once the game releases on May 20th:

Will XeSS support be available at launch?
I think I can tell you that everything, including the partnership with Intel, will be released in the Day One patch.

— Kiev Martins, Producer on Dolmen at Massive Work Studio

Our readers have been quite surprised by the statement that XeSS might launch this week, considering Arc discrete GPUs are nowhere to be found, and desktop launch has been shifted to OEM exclusive in China.

Intel XeSS is AI-based upscaling technology that is expected to rival NVIDIA DLSS2 and AMD FSR2 once it becomes available. Similarly to AMD, Intel chose an open-source path for its technology, yet despite releasing an SDK for developers last year, no code has been made public till now.

Officially, Intel confirmed that XeSS is set to launch ‘early summer’. Therefore, Dolmen’s producer statements were kind of surprising to begin with.
