Intel’s first NUC with Arc GPUs is now available for preorder

Intel releases its NUC 12 Mini-PC equipped with latest mobile CPU and GPU series.

SimplyNUC is now taking preorders for the NUC 12 Pro, a small form factor PC designed by Intel and equipped with all-Intel hardware. This system comes with up to Core i7-12700H Alder Lake 14-core processor and flagship Arc A770M discrete GPU from the Alchemist series.

This is a powerful system encapsulated into 2.5L (230×180×60 mm) chassis. It is equipped with modern connectivity, including but not limited to USB 3.2 Gen2, Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort 2.0 and HDMI 2.1. Powered by either integrated Iris Xe Graphics or discrete A770 GPU, it can output up to five 4K streams.

Since Intel has many NUC products already, here’s a quick reminder where does NUC 12 Enthusiast stacks up in the whole lineup:

  • Intel NUC 12 Extreme “Dragon Canyon” (12th Gen Core-S & Arc A-series desktop)
  • Intel NUC 12 Enthusiast “Serpent Canyon” (12th Gen Core-H & Arc A-Series Mobile).
  • Intel NUC 12 Pro “Wall Street Canyon” (12th Gen Core-P)
  • Intel NUC X15 “Alder County” (12th Gen Core-H & Arc A-Series Mobile) (laptop)

So, this is not the most powerful NUC, but definitely the smallest 12th Gen NUC for gaming. It is powered by 14-core i7-12700H CPU (a popular choice for gaming laptops) and Intel’s own Arc A770M GPU with 16GB of VRAM and full implementation of ACM-G10 GPU with 32 Xe-Cores. It supports up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory and has three M.2 slots for either PCIe Gen4 or Gen3 x4 storage.

The NUC 12 Enthusiast is a compelling alternative to gaming consoles or home theater systems. Multiple display support, optical audio connector and fast WiFi-6E or 2.5G Ethernet support combined with powerful hardware is rarely seen in such a form factor.

The basic spec with 8GB of DDR4 memory and 256GB of storage is listed at 1699 USD. An upgrade to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage increases the price to 1944 USD. This is certainly not a cheap system, but it was never meant to be. Intel NUC Enthusiast/Extreme product were always expensive and always targeted at very niche market. It is worth noting, however, that this system is eligible for “Arc 7 System Bundle” worth 370 USD according to Intel.
