Intel releases its reference gaming laptop, the X15 Laptop Kit
Intel NUC laptops are not commonly known, mainly because they are not sold directly but through system integrators.
Intel NUC X15 Laptop Kit is the latest reference gaming laptop featuring 11th Gen Core CPU and NVIDIA RTX 30 graphics. It is no doubt a high-end laptop featuring either Core i5-11400H Tiger Lake-H CPU or Core i7-11800H, which is an 8-core and 16-thread processor commonly used by other gaming designs.
The magnesium alloy chassis along with either a 15.6 inch 144Hz or 240Hz FullHD panel or 165Hz QHD display will definitely make it an interesting alternative to the existing solutions. The X15 is available in as many as 5 variants, equipped with GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Unfortunately, Intel does not provide TGP values for X15 series, thus we are not sure if these are Max-P or Max-Q GPU designs.
Other interesting features of NUC X15 are optomechanical keyboard switches, PCIe Gen4 storage support, as well a Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 connectors. Both PCIe Gen4 and Thunderbolt 4 are currently exclusive to Intel Tiger Lake-H-based laptops.
Intel has not revealed the pricing of its NUC X15 laptop. This could help us understand how much more expensive are custom designs based on Intel Tiger Lake and NVIDIA Ampere architecture compared to the reference platform.
