Intel Adaptive Boost for Rocket Lake-S
Another Intel launch another boost technology.
The 11th Gen Core series codenamed “Rocket Lake-S” will feature a new technology called Adaptive Boost, HardwareLuxx reports. This is a new clock adjusting technique that will be available only with certain Core SKUs. Intel announced that Adaptive Boost will be available with Core i9 K-series and Core i9 KF-series. That said, both Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) and Adaptive Boost Technology (ABT) will be exclusive to Rocket Lake’s Core i9-11900K(F) series.
The ADT will work on top of the Thermal Velocity Boost, according to the slide released by Intel. The technology will work within the specifications and should not be considered overclocking. The technology will take advantage of the existing thermal and power headroom available in the system.
It would seem that ADT will engage up to 100oC for 3 to 8 cores, whereas TVB will only work up to 70C. This theoretically will allow up to 5.1 GHz on select cores. Officially the Core i9 series offers up to a 4.8 GHz all-core boost, so this slide would suggest that if power and temperature requirements are met, then all cores should boost up to 5.1 GHz, 300 MHz above the specifications.
