Intel DG2 at CES 2022

Hardware Academy (硬件学堂) a popular content creator from Weibo claims that Intel is set to launch its DG2 family of GPUs at CES.

According to the entry on Weibo, the creator received reliable information that Intel DG2 discrete graphics will be released at CES 2022. While there might be mistakes in the translation, the entry undeniably mentions ‘launch’. This still leaves a possibility that Intel’s Xe-HPG based gaming processors might be announced a bit sooner, possibly this year.

At this year’s CES Intel announced its 11th Gen Tiger Lake vPRO processors, portable gaming Tiger Lake-H35 series, and its NUC 11 series. The manufacturer has since released 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S desktop CPUs, NUC 11 Extreme, and Tiger Lake-H processors.

The next CES could be filled with Alder Lake mobile announcements. There were leaks that Intel will be announcing Alder Lake-P laptops with DG2 GPUs, marking an important milestone for Intel by offering all-Intel gaming laptops for the first time. Intel DG2 GPUs is to offer up to 512 Execution Units and 16GB GDDR6 memory. At least five SKUs are now planned according to the leaks.

Just last month Intel revealed that DG2 GPUs are now sampling, which is the last step before final qualification for volume production. Public CES 2022 starts on January 5th while ‘Media Days’ will take place two days sooner, on January 3rd.
