Intel Core i9-11900KF heats up to 98C, pulls 250W

Intel’s upcoming flagship LGA1200 CPU has been put through the bur-in test.

According to the picture posted on Chiphell, Intel’s upcoming Rocket Lake-S flagship aka Core i9-11900KF (with disabled iGPU) will heat up to 98C, a screenshot reveals.

Despite carrying a default TDP of 125W, the CPU package power is reported at 250.83W. This is Intel’s PL2 state which is expected to be similar to the Comet Lake-S series (up to 250W) with a duration of 56 seconds. It is unclear what are the motherboard settings. The duration (Tau) and PL1/PL2 might have been modified to achieve such a level of heat.

The Core i9-11900KF is now correctly detected by CPU-Z software, which recently received an update for the Rocket Lake-S series. As we learn the CPU had a voltage of 1.401 during the test, but the leaker claims that this is a wrong reading. According to AIDA64, it should say 1.325V.

While the default base clock is blurred out on the screenshot, it is believed that the 11900K series will have a base clock of 3.5 GHz. The SKU has an all-core boost clock of 4.8 GHz, according to leaked specs. This clock speed appears in the screenshot below during the AIDA64 Stress FPU test, which was performed using the ‘entry 360 AIO’ cooler. Do note that the stress test does not correspond to everyday use and the CPU will perform in a different way during, let’s say, gaming:
