The next-generation Rocket Lake-S vPRO processors.
Intel Core i7 with 12-threads?
We received quite an interesting photograph from a reliable source. The picture showcases performance tiers for the upcoming desktop Rocket Lake architecture featuring up to 8 cores and 16 threads.
There have been quite a few leaks on the new series already, but so far none of them has suggested that the Core i7 would feature an ‘uneven’ configuration of cores and threads. According to the picture, the Core i7 series would feature 8 cores, but instead of 16-threads, it would only have 12. We were unable to confirm if this is a typo in the document, but this ‘unexpected’ CPU configuration was the reason we received this picture in the first place.
The chart also mentions the Core i9 series with 8 cores and, unlike the i7 series, it would feature 16-threads.
Another interesting bit from this leak is Comet Lake Refresh. Intel is allegedly planning to refresh some SKUs but only for Core i3 and Pentium series.
It is worth noting that this is a leak for the Rocket Lake vPRO series, where not all non-vPRO SKUs are always included.
