The Core i7-14700K CPU from Intel Raptor Lake Refresh series already on sale
Embargo? What embargo.
Redditor PantatRebus reports that he not only managed to find Intel’s newest desktop CPU on a shelf, but also he was able to buy one. This is a significant oversight on the retailer’s part, as they have breached the official embargo by selling these CPUs ahead of schedule. PantatRebus now finds himself in the fortunate position of being an early owner, free from the constraints of any nondisclosure agreements.
For those who are already in the know, Intel is gearing up to unveil a refreshed version of their Raptor Lake series next week. This new CPU lineup boasts higher clock speeds, and in the case of the Core i7-14700K, more cores than its predecessor. This particular SKU boasts 20 cores and 28 threads, achieved by combining 8 P-Cores and the rarely used 12 E-Core configuration. With a maximum turbo clock of 5.6 GHz, it’s bound to pique the interest of many gamers, making it potentially the most appealing choice from this generation.
As PantatRebus explained, he repeatedly inquired about the possibility of purchasing this processor, to which the retailer raised no objections. The CPU was available at a price of 7.45 million IDR, which is approximately equivalent to 476 USD. It’s worth noting that PantatRebus is not the sole owner of this CPU, as there are several other reviewers currently testing the new series. However, unlike PantatRebus, they are unable to share any results until the official launch next week.
Furthermore, another retailer has corroborated our leak regarding the release date, which was curiously absent from Intel’s Innovation 2023 event. As we previously mentioned, there are two embargoes in place: one for the announcement and preorders on October 16th, and the other for the official sales beginning the day after. Central Computers has provided confirmation of these dates.
Update: user provided first benchmarks. These should be considered the very first benchmarks of a retail Core i7-14700K:
