Intel preparing Raptor Lake-HX Refresh
Intel Core i7-14700HX now being tested.
Intel recently refreshed its desktop Raptor Lake-S CPUs with the introduction of the new 14900K, 14700K, and 14600K series. While the full launch of Intel’s Meteor Lake mobile platform is expected in December, the company is also actively working on a mobile 14th Gen Refresh for its high-end gaming sreies known as “HX” or the “muscle 55W” segment. A recent leak has emerged from the PugetBench website, showcasing a new Raptor Lake-S BGA test platform.
In this leaked information, a Core i7-14700HX processor was tested with 64GB of DDR5-4800 memory. What makes this setup interesting is that it also featured Intel Arc A570M graphics, while the Core-HX models are typically offered with high-end GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards. It’s possible that this mid-range Arc Alchemist GPU was used solely for testing purposes.
This particular entry was discovered by @momomo_us, who has previously confirmed the existence of at least two other Core-HX models: the Core i9-14900HX and Core i5-14650HX. As of now, these are the only three parts within this category that we have information about.

The updated Core-HX models are expected to feature higher clocks compared to their predecessors. However, the underlying platform will remain the same, which means DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5 support, as well as default TDP of 55W and burst power up to 157W.
Intel is not the only company developing the new “HX” CPU series, though. It has been disclosed that AMD is also in the process of planning the release of the more budget-friendly 7840HX and 7740HX Dragon Range CPU series. Intel’s lineup is no doubt expected to expand, potentially reaching a similar number of SKUs as seen in the 13th and 12th Gen series. However, at present, these are the first confirmed parts in this series from both Intel and AMD.
