Intel Core i5-13400 is 25% more expensive than predecessor

Pricing for Intel’s upcoming Core i5-13400 CPU has been confirmed by a large US retailer.

ShopBLT now lists Intel’s 10-core Raptor Lake-S processor called Core i5-13400. Just as expected, the CPU appeared in two variants, either with (i5-13400) or without integrated graphics (i5-13400F). The retailer is not confirming the core count, but the cache size of 20MB and 2.5 GHz base clock are mentioned.

According to this listing, the next-gen CPU series would be 24% to 27% pricier than the predecessor. Although this seems like a massive increase, one must mention that the i5-13400 should end up significantly faster than the Alder Lake version. This is mainly due to increase in core count from 6 to 10, or more precisely the enablement of 4 Efficient cores on the die itself.

Some early leaks have shown that i5-13400 could end up 28% faster than 12400 in multi-core test. At the same time, only 7% increase can be observed in synthetic benchmarks for single-threaded workloads.

According to the rumors, Intel will launch its 13th Gen Core series on January 3rd, 2023 following the announcement during CES 2023. What is important is that Core i5-13400 SU is not the only processor being introduced, the company is set to launch i9-13900, i7-13700, i5-13600, i5-13500 and i3-13100 SKUs as well, all of which feature base power of 65W.
