Intel Alder County – high-end reference laptop with Intel CPU & GPU

During CES 2022 Intel confirmed that Alder County NUC will feature discrete Arc GPUs.

This codename is not commonly known, in fact, the only reference can be found over at Inpact Hardware. The website claims that Alder Country is a successor to King County, which is Intel’s reference Laptop Kit (NUC X15). It’s a high-performance laptop design with RTX 3060/3070 Laptop GPU.

The Alder County would simply feature “Alder Lake-P” CPU and Arc GPU. In other words, it would be Intel’s first all-Intel high-end gaming laptop reference design. In any case, this is the first time Intel confirmed this codename.

In case you have never heard of NUC Laptop Kits, those Intel design reference design that is sometimes used by channel partners. For instance, NUC X15 is used by ADATA’s XPG Xenia gaming laptops. Below are the pictures of King County, the latest reference design based on Intel Tiger Lake (up to i7-11800H) architecture:

Furthermore, we also have confirmation on “Serpent Canyon”. Our readers may remember this NUC 12 Enthusiast leak from August last year. The device is a thin gaming small form factor PC with a next-gen Intel CPU as per the leaked spec sheet. In the upper right corner, we can see ‘Sepren” which stands for Seprent Canyon. Exactly this name was used in Intel CES 2022 presentation.

In other words, the company confirmed that this device will feature next-gen Intel ARC GPU. The spec sheet further suggests it will be offered with 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB VRAM options. ARC GPUs will also support DisplayPort 2.0.
