Intel Meteor Lake-S

Leaker @momomo_us spotted Meteor Lake-S listed in Intel Management Engine software.

Intel “MTL-S” is an abbreviation of Meteor Lake-S is the series for next-gen Core CPUs. Not only it will feature a newer process node (Intel 4) but also new ‘flexible tiled architecture’. This means it will have segmented CPU, GPU and SOC tiles. At CPU level, it will continue to use hybrid architecture with efficient and performance cores, but Intel is yet to provide the exact configurations for mobile and desktop Meteor CPUs.

Intel has been showcasing its mobile CPUs at various events, but the company is yet to display a desktop package for Meteor Lake. Technically it wasn’t confirmed that Meteor Lake will launch for desktops, but Intel did confirm that the thermal range will go from 5 to 125W. With the recent launch of Alder Lake-HX (desktop-class-mobile series), one might wonder if this TDP is attached to the desktop platform at all.

Recently, Intel announced it will discuss its Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake series at Hot Chips 34 in August. This is probably an architecture overview of the mobile platform that should launch in 2023.

According to @kopite7kimi, one should expect (desktop?) Meteor Lake-S to launch no sooner than 2024, while other leakers have suggested that there is no desktop Meteor Lake at all.
