Gigabyte Gaming Box with RTX 40 GPU
AORUS is set to provide a new external GPU solution.
This is the third generation AORUS Gaming Box, following RTX 20 and RTX 30 models that were released in the past few years. The next-gen Box is to feature NVIDIA’s flagship RTX 4090 graphics and this is not a mobile variant, but the actual desktop GPU.

Gigabyte already has WaterForce RTX 4090 GPU equipped with all-in-one cooling solution. That model will soon be joined by another water-cooled RTX 4090, but this time for an entirely different market.
AORUS RTX 4090 Gaming Box features a custom built RTX 4090 24GB model with full liquid cooling loop inside the enclosure. This box also has a built-in power supply, so in theory it only needs three cables to work: power cable, display cable (either DisplayPort or HDMI) and of course the Thunderbolt cable itself. The box uses this technology to connect with the laptop or mini-PC.
Currently, it is unclear if the RTX 40 Box has Thunderbolt 4support, which would have been an upgrade over last gen series with TB 3.0. However, due to limitations of this standard, it would still offer the same maximum bandwidth of 40 Gbps, so GPU performance would likely not improve.

The Box extends the I/O with two additional USB 3.0 Type-A connectors and Ethernet port. Compared to last-gen model, the RTX 40 box has a front USB Type-C connector instead of Type-A, there are also fewer display connectors, but to be none of the currently available AORUS RTX 40 cards offers two HDMI ports anyway.
AORUS RTX 4090 Gaming Box is currently not listed by Gigabyte on official website, thus the full specs remain to be confirmed.
