Gigabyte planning its first Arctic motherboard

Fresh information regarding upcoming Gigabyte motherboards has been received by the regulatory office of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). In addition to updates for the AMD X670/B650 series, Gigabyte appears to be working on an update for its Intel Z790 platform.

Last month, Gigabyte released a new BIOS for its Intel 600/700 motherboards, which are based on the LGA1700 socket. The company explained that this update introduced support for Intel’s next-generation CPUs. However, it should be noted that referring to it as the next generation may be an exaggeration, as the desktop update for the Intel LGA1700 socket is still expected to feature Raptor Lake silicon.

During Computex, Gigabyte unveiled its initial Z790 motherboards with an ‘X’ branding, which signifies the updated version of their Intel motherboards. The AORUS Master X and AORUS Xtreme X were among the first designs to be showcased. However, it has now been revealed that there are many more Z790 “X” boards in the company’s plans:

The “X” refresh will also apply to AORUS Elite/Pro series and there is a first B760M motherboard listed as well. The specific changes applied to these motherboards remain shrouded in uncertainty, as the information available so far only hints at the inclusion of 5 GbE networking and a potential WiFi7 update on the AORUS models.

Finally, there is a mention of a new motherboard called “YT Pioneer”. Such product name was not used before and thus far there were no leaks that could explain what exactly could this mean. This product may be another ‘content creator’ design or simply a special version for a select market.

Notably, AMD AM5 motherboards are also receiving a minor update. Among them, the highlight is the introduction of the “Arctic” design. While details are scarce, but it is likely that this board will be striking white aesthetic, potentially applying a refreshing transformation to the existing gray motherboard design.
