Gigabyte today hosted a product launch of its Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics cards.

Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 Series are very expensive

The company confirmed that their custom Radeon RX 6800 series will come at a very high price. The flagship model called AORUS Master, which is based on Radeon RX 6800 XT SKU will cost 899 USD (both Type-C and DisplayPort versions are expected to cost the same). That is 250 USD over the AMD MSRP for their reference model. The non-XT model will cost 719 USD, over 140 USD over the AMD price. Gigabyte also announced RX 6800 XT GAMING OC model which will retail at 849 USD (+200 USD).

So far no board partner had publically confirmed the very high price of its custom series, usually, it was up to retailers or distributors to determine the pricing (if they had a chance to sell it anyway). It is actually kind of surprising to hear such high pricing directly from Gigabyte employees. It could mean that the official MSRP that they announced will be kept for a while. It also raises questions about whether AMD MSRP had any meaning in the first place.

The company confirmed it will launch more models, including water-cooled series featuring white cooler designs (probably the VISION series). The employees have confirmed that RX 6900 XT custom graphics cards are coming, although they were not ready to share details. In case you didn’t see, we have already leaked the custom RX 6900 XT Gaming OC here.

Gigabyte expects shipments of these custom RX 6800 XT cards soon but has not confirmed when exactly are they expected at retailers.
