GALAX HOF goes Extreme with DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5 SSD storage
As promised, GALAX unveiled its latest products for enthusiasts, one of the world’s first SSDs based on the latest PCIe standard and ultra-fast DDR5 memory.

First and foremost, today’s unveil of the HOF Extreme 50 SSDs this is just a product announcement with no information about availability or price. This is rather important to mention because looking for any of the next-gen SSDs on sale right now is rather pointless. Sadly in this case, Galax is not planning to be the first to ship such products.
The HOF Extreme SSD storage will come in two variants: 1TB and 2TB, each offers different specifications:
- HOF Extreme 50 1TB: 9500 MB/s & 1300K IPS (read), 8500 MB/s & 1100K IOPS (write)
- HOF Extreme 50 2TB: 10000 MB/s & 1500K IPS (read), 9500 MB/s & 1250K IOPS (write)
However, this is not the fastest SSD currently being planned. The company is already confirming that storage with sequential read speed of 12GB/s is already under development. The current specs are indeed impressive, but nowhere as good as expected for a PCIe Gen5 SSDs.
The storage features active cooling system with one fan and has built-in DDR4 cache. It also uses 232-layer NAND flash memory and Phison controller.
Furthermore, GALAX is unveiling its HOF Pro DDR5 memory to be offered in various configurations. The company confirms 6800 MT/s, 7200 MT/s and even 8000 MT/s kits currently being produced (each is 2x 16GB capacity). None of the memory kits is listed by GALAX on any retail or official website yet, so there is no release date or pricing. In fact, we couldn’t find any information on memory timings either.

In any case, what should be said is that GALAX tends to ship premium HOF products to influencers and extreme overclockers first, so the actual launch may happen just as we start seeing such content.
