GALAX has reached out to us to confirm that the 'CLASSIC' model series will not be available. These cards were canceled.
Galax unveiled its Classic series featuring GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards.
GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 CLASSIC Series
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards based on GA102 GPU require at least 320W of power. Considering how large the RTX 3090 cooler is and how efficient NVIDIA’s own design is, we didn’t really expect any blower-type cooler to appear – we were wrong.
Multiple NVIDIA board partners have already revealed their blower designs, including Gigabyte Turbo, ASUS Turbo, and MSI Aero. It seems that the next on the list is GALAX with their CLASSIC series.
GALAX RTX 3080 Classic Front & RTX 3090 Classic Front
Galax RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Classic cards look pretty much identical with the exception of the NVLink connector (only available to RTX 3090 SKU). They feature a relatively large heatsink, which appears to be pure copper made. Unfortunately, Galax did not reveal the internals of the cooler design, thus it not clear how large the vapor chamber (which these cards surely have) might be.
Both cards have dual 8-pin power connectors and default TDP values of 350W and 320W for RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 respectively. Those power connectors are located at the rear which should help with the cable management.
According to Galax, this blower type design will not have a 0dB technology that stops the fan when the card is not in use. This sadly means that the card will be audible at all times.
Both cards are only shown on the Chinese Galax website, which indicates that they might not be sold in other regions.
