GALAX RTX 4090 HOF, the most powerful RTX 4090 yet

The company has just released the full specs of their RTX 4090 Hall of Fame GPU series, and yes, this is not just one card.

Today GALAX is introducing two cards: OC Lab and OC Lab Plus. The latter is the flagship HOF GPU with higher boost clock. Although this is technically “the most powerful” RTX 4090 on the market, it is not actually the fastest out of the box. With BIOS set to Performance mode, the GPU is set to 2625 MHz, which means ASUS ROG STRIX OC or MSI SUPRIM Liquid are still faster with their 2640 MHz factory overclocking.

However, once the P-mode is enabled, the GPU power limit is set to 666W, which is 66W higher than ROG STRIX. This is possible because RTX 4090 HOF is the only RTX 40 graphics card on the market with two 16-pin (12VHPWR) connectors.

As mentioned, there are two models, the OC Lab Plus being the faster one. According to official specs, the OC Lab edition is just 30 MHz slower which seems to be the only difference. This card has the same bundle and same power limit as the Plus version.

GALAX has two promotional photos featuring the power delivery setup. The card is bundled with two adapters, meaning eight 8-pin PCIe power cables are required for power supplies that have no native implementation for 12VHPWR standard. The other photo shows both the native cable and adapter in use (so quite a mess). It also presents the HOF Panel III, the full-color detachable screen powered by an additional USB cable.

The OC BIOS switch is actually a button located on the I/O bracket. It will light up when ‘Hyper Boost’ mode is enabled. In terms of cooling, GALAX confirms that RTX 4090 HOF has 9 heatpipes in total (either 8 or 6 mm), two 112 mm outer fans and 92 mm central fan.

But chances are most users of these cards will remove the cooler anyway to install liquid nitrogen pots. After all, the Hall of Fame series are all about extreme overclocking. This is why we have been seeing photos from early testing and world record breaking attempts, many of them successful.

The company is yet to confirm the availability and pricing of the HOF GPUs, but they will definitely be one of the most expensive RTX 4090 out there.
