ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Matrix GPU flagship card launches at $3200, NVIDIA CEO signed card to be auctioned for charity
The ASUS RTX 4090, ASUS’s most powerful graphics card has arrived, but is not targeted for the average gamer.
ASUS had not introduced a ROG Matrix GPU since the RTX 2080 Ti. But was the wait truly worth it? Priced at $3,200, the RTX 4090 ROG MATRIX stands as the most expensive model in the AD102 GeForce lineup, effectively doubling the official $1,599 MSRP for the RTX 4090.
For this premium cost, one receives several features. First and foremost, it boasts the highest GPU clock among all RTX 4090 models. It showcases a unique cooling solution, featuring a triple-fan radiator with a liquid cooler, a sizable vapor chamber, and a custom pump which is larger than ROG STRIX LC models. Additionally, this ASUS graphics card marks a significant milestone as the company’s first-ever to incorporate liquid metal technology.

The GPU clock has been set at an impressive 2670 MHz, representing a 6% boost above NVIDIA’s reference specifications. According to reviewers, the card comes with a default 500W TGP (Total Graphics Power) and can be configured to reach up to 600W, which aligns with the limit for the 16-pin power connector. In contrast to certain other solutions like the GALAX HOF, which employs two connectors, the ROG Matrix is limited in terms of power consumption.
Furthermore, the card offers two BIOS settings: Performance and Silent mode. The default Performance setting, while powerful, may not be the quietest profile among RTX 4090 cards. A common issue with most liquid-cooled models is the lack of control over the pump, which continues to run regardless of the load, even when the fans are disabled under lighter loads. This model is affected by this inconvenience.

Notably, ASUS has a special edition of this card, personally signed by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. This exclusive card will be put up for auction to support charity through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hence, prospective buyers not only have the opportunity to acquire the fastest and most expensive RTX 4090 model but also stand a chance to bid on a card signed by Jensen Huang, enhancing its collectible value even further.
ASUS has chosen a very short list of reviewers for this launch, but at least we have some more information about the GPU. The card was tested by TechPowerUP, Overclock3D and HardwareUnboxed.
