After numerous reports about the new entry-level card going on sale for at least 300 EUR, we finally have proof in actual retailer listings. The bad news is that the price is even higher than expected.

ASUS Germany confirmed that their custom RX 6500XT cards will cost €300-324 EUR, while reports from France suggested the new model will cost at least €300. The problem is that both reports were inaccurate because the first listings in France put 50 to 78 EUR higher prices than expected.

An this is not even a high-end model we are talking about. Gigabyte RX 6500 XT EAGLE (non-OC) model can already be found listed at 351 to 378 EUR (400 to 423 USD). This is already twice MSRP AMD announced at CES 2022.

The RX 6500XT is Navi 24 based model featuring 1024 shading units. This card is outfitted with 4GB GDDR6 memory across a 64-bit memory bus. According to AMD, the RX 6500XT is set to compete with NVIDIA’s GTX 16 series which are currently listed for ‘as little as 260 to 300 EUR.

One must also remember that AMD limited this card’s interface to PCIe Gen4 x4. Furthermore, RX 6500XT (Navi 24) lacks AV1 decoding and H264/265 encoding, which will make this card even harder to sell at this price.
