The most recent update to the leading software tool for CPUs brings confirmation of the forthcoming Intel and AMD CPU lineups. While the software has already included support for the upcoming 14th Gen Core Raptor Lake Refresh series, this update expands its compatibility to include entry-level models from the Core i3 and Core i5 series, specifically the 14100, 14400, and 14500 variants with different power ratings (35/65W).
This update also brings official support for individual CPUs from AMD Storm Peak (STP), which represents the next-generation High-End Desktop (HEDT) and workstation Threadripper PRO series. Worth adding that the software already had preliminary Storm Peak support since May of this year, but the CPUs were clearly not ready to launch at the time.
As detailed in the changelog in 2.08 update, there are plans for five different SKUs within the Storm Peak series, ranging from 16 to 96 cores. These CPUs will feature the Zen4 architecture and will be derived from Genoa chips, utilizing a similar package and socket. For those in the HEDT market, it’s important to note that a new motherboard with the TRX50 chipset will be required, which will also support PCIe Gen5 storage and DDR5 memory – significant upgrades compared to the Threadripper 5000 (Zen3) series.

Regarding specifications, the changelog confirms the lowest SKU as the Threadripper PRO 7945WX. While it doesn’t specify the core count for this particular part, it can be reasonably assumed that it has fewer than 16 cores, as the 7955WX is configured with 16 cores.
Just last week, a leak surfaced, revealing three marketing slides that provided basic details about the upcoming addition to the Threadripper series. Officially, AMD is set to launch this new lineup in the upcoming fall season, and the flagship SKU will indeed boast 96 cores. Additionally, AMD claims a 20% increase in performance compared to the 5000 series.
