Corsair’s upcoming MP700 SSDs are fast

Corsair recently announced readiness for AMD Ryzen 7000 series with their portfolio of DDR5 memory, AM5 compatible coolers and soon the new PCIe SSDs.

While Corsair DDR5 memory and ICUE Liquid coolers are already on sale, PCIe Gen5 storage is not yet available for consumers. However, this is about to change once AMD launches its Ryzen 7000 CPU and brand new 600-series chipsets compatible with next-gen storage solutions.

Over at Corsair website dedicated to AMD AM5 platform one can find a mention of the upcoming MP700 series SSDs. The published a chart demonstrating the performance of each generation of MP SSDs: MP510 with PCIe Gen3 support, MP600 Pro XT compatible with Gen4 and the upcoming MP700 series. This is PCIe Gen5 x4 compatible M.2 storage offering up to 10 GB/s of sequential read and 9.5 GB/s of write speeds, the product description reveals.

Corsair is not confirming full product specs yet, in fact, there is not even a photo of these new SSDs. There is also a big unknown when it comes to pricing. While there were plenty of offers of DDR5 memory months ahead of Intel Alder Lake launch last year, there is still no consumer-grade M.2 Gen5 storage anywhere.

Corsair’s flagship MP600 XT Gen4 storage is now sold at 240 USD for 2TB, thus the MP700 Gen5 series are almost certainly going to cost more.
