Colorful iGame KUDAN gets unboxed, tested, and taken apart

Bilibili content creator (二斤自制) received one of the few RTX 3090 iGame KUDAN review samples.

The KUDAN represents the ultra-premium segment of Chinese GPU manufacturer Colorful. The iGAME Kudan graphics cards are always manufactured in limited quantity and they are not easily available in retail channels, especially outside China.

There are quite a few similarities to other ultra-premium graphics cards on the market, most of which are targeted at the extreme overclocking scene. What EVGA Kingpin Hybrid, GALAX HOF, and Colorful iGAME KUDAN all have in common is the monitoring screen. It seems that KUDAN ships with the same 90 degrees rotating screen as its RTX 3090 iGAME Vulcan, except it is placed closer to the power connectors. This is likely because the graphics card is equipped with a hybrid cooling solution which requires additional space.

Colorful RTX3090 Kudan ships with a 240mm radiator with preinstalled a pump. Two thick hoses can optionally be attached to the graphics card through plug and play connectors, however, this is not required as the graphics card can easily work without a liquid loop attached. Frankly speaking, this is what makes this graphics card so special, none of the 113+ GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards currently on the market ship with hybrid cooling solutions such as this.

What is definitely surprising is that Colorful is reusing its RTX 3090 Vulcan board design for KUDAN. There are no visual changes to the circuit design, although this may require a closer look. This powerful KUDAN design will offer up to 420W of power in the OC mode, adjusted manually up to 500W. That’s nearly 150W above RTX 3090 default specs. The graphics card is powered by three 8-pin power connectors and features a 14+8+4 VRM design.

The RTX 3090 KUDAN graphics card (marked in orange) has been quickly tested in games and synthetic benchmarks in comparison to RTX 3090 Vulcan (blue). The performance boost is minimal despite offering TDP higher by 30W and boost the clock by 75 MHz.

Colorful announced that its RTX 3090 KUDAN production will be limited to 1000 units and they will cost 4999 USD each.
