NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Founders Edition sold out, scalpers selling them at a 46% higher price

NVIDIA has recently launched its RTX 40 graphics cards in China. Of course, we are talking about the Founders Edition cards, which are of NVIDIA own design proven to be a worthy alternative to custom designs from board partners. What is important is that Founders cards were not available in China with RTX 30 series “Ampere” and the only way to get them was through 3rd party sellers.

The GPU manufacturer has now released its Founders Edition based on Ada architecture last week in China. These cards went out of stock and the worst news is that they ended up with scalpers. Gamers can now only find these cards at a much higher price, a price that does not necessarily make much sense at this point.

NVIDIA released its RTX 40 FE series at the following prices:

  • RTX 4090: 12999 RMB
  • RTX 4080: 9499 RMB
  • RTX 4070: 4799 RMB
  • RTX 4060 Ti: 3199 RMB

Chinese media report that graphics cards like RTX 4070 Founders Edition, which were originally listed at 4799 RMB are now sold for 6999 RMB. That’s 45.8% higher than the original list price. The good news is that gamers should have no issue finding board partner models at 4799-5000 RMB, but those who were looking strictly for Founders Edition models are out of luck.
