CableMod 1.1 angled adapter update: 1.0 users get $40/€40 coupons
CableMod’s angled adapters generated considerable anticipation after weeks of teasing, being hailed as the ultimate solution to address all issues associated with NVIDIA’s 12VHPWR (16-pin) cables. The company distributed these adapters to influencers, showcasing various combinations and colors, in a concerted effort to persuade RTX 40 users to adopt their innovative solution.
Upon their release, many users swiftly made the switch, effectively resolving a problem with the original cables and adapters: the need for excessive space before bending the cables, which often compelled users to leave their side panels open to comply with these recommendations.

Regrettably, as time passed, reports from CableMod’s angled adapter users began to surface, citing an increasing number of issues, with cable overheating and melting being chief among them. The company responded promptly to these concerns, actively assisting affected users through RMA claims and offering refunds for entire GPUs if necessary. Some GPU makers started to reject claims from users using CableMod adapters.
CableMod openly acknowledged the observed increased failure rate associated with the angled adapter design, particularly when compared to their own cable adapters. Consequently, they announced a forthcoming new revision designed to rectify all the issues associated with the initial 1.0 version.
Now, the eagerly awaited 1.1 revision has been released, as the company endeavors to restore their reputation by elevating the adapter standard to PCI SIG CEM 5.1 specifications. This update eliminates any wiggle and enhances connector tightness, primarily attributed to the adoption of the new 12-2×6 connector design, which is notably superior to the original CEM 5.0/12VHPWR standard.
Slim Profile
Our 12VHPWR 90 Degree Angled Adapter only protrudes 21mm from your graphics card, which means increased space and more clearance between your GPU and your side panel. This enables installation of super wide cards in more narrow chassis.
Zero Bending
Unlike 90 degree cable connectors, our angled adapters utilize a reinforced PCB design to achieve an angled connection. No wire bending ensures full contact with all cable terminals, and zero risk of thermal issues through excessive wire and terminal stress from tight bending radii.
Multi-Layered Cooling Solution
To ensure peak performance, our angled adapters use a 2oz copper PCB with applied copper foil to aid heat dissipation. Combined with a thermal pad and a quality aluminum shell, this multi-layered design helps keep things cool, even under continuous loads.
Two Variants
The CableMod 12VHPWR 90 Degree Angled Adapter comes in two variants, making sure there’s a solution for graphics cards no matter which 12VHPWR power port orientation they have. For those with extra tight space requirements, a 180 Degree Angled Adapter, which routes the cable above the graphics card, is also available.
The good news is that existing users who bought the 1.0 version may receive a €40/$40 coupon that can be used towards the purchase of the 1.1 version. The only requirement is that these adapters must have been purchased through official CableMod stores, check the dedicated website here.

One can only hope that this revised version will experience fewer issues compared to the initial design. While it’s important to acknowledge that no adapter or cable can be flawless, challenges can arise when dealing with components that require high power. Nevertheless, CableMod is committed to ensuring that their adapters are as user-friendly as possible, and their reputation is on the line.
