Biostar and Asrock confirm Rocket Lake-S Support on Z490 motherboards

According to the picture posted by @momomo_us, Biostar becomes the first board manufacturer to officially confirm the 11th Gen Intel Core CPU series on existing 400-series motherboards.

Biostar Racing Z490 motherboards now officially support the 11th Gen Core series, according to the marketing banner published on social media. Intel’s upcoming processor series is expected to debut in the first quarter of next year.

The 11th Gen processors codenamed Rocket Lake-S will support the same LGA1200 socket as the 10th Gen Core “Comet Lake-S”. Some of the 400-series motherboards which debuted earlier this year were advertised with ‘PCIe Gen4’ hardware support at launch, however, no Intel CPUs existed at the time that could benefit from the new interface standard.

Intel’s 11th Gen Core is now rumored to be announced at CES 2021 in January. The company is expected to announce the availability of the 500-series motherboards, such as Z590, H570, and B560 shortly after the announcement. The processors, however, are not expected to be available until February or March.

Yesterday we shared a roadmap that outlined Intel’s plans to begin the mass production of the Rocket Lake-S processors in late January. The processors were originally planned to ‘be ready for shipment’ no sooner than March 11th.

A recent BIOS update from ASRock also confirms that 11th Gen Core processors will be supported on the manufacturer’s premium Z490, W480, and H470 motherboards:
