ASUS will wait for Intel to announce its new 14th Gen Core series

On October 16th, a launch event is set to occur as the embargo on Intel’s upcoming desktop lineup will finally be lifted. This unveiling will begin with the introduction of six Core K-series CPUs, signaling the initial release of the new Raptor Lake Refresh series. Motherboard makers such as MSI, Gigabyte, and ASUS have been preparing updates to their Z790 motherboard portfolio for this occasion, introducing the Gigabyte Z790 X, MSI Z790 MAX, and ASUS Z790 II series.

A newly released teaser image provides a glimpse of four motherboards, of which only two have previously surfaced: the ROG Formula and ROG Apex Encore from ASUS. Flanking them on either side are the ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-E WIFI II and Z790-F WIFI II models, which have not been discussed until now.

These four boards will join the lineup ASUS announced back in August, expanding their offerings by a total of seven models. This brings the complete Z790 series to an impressive total of 27 distinct motherboards, demonstrating a variety of choices of black, black and white, white and Mini-ITX designs.

The ASUS series are categorized into six sub-series, each catering to different user bases. These include the ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, ProArt, and Prime series. Some of these sub-series are designed to be budget-friendly (such as TUF and Prime), while others aim to cater to more premium users (like ROG Maximus and Strix). Although ASUS has introduced ProArt models recently, they don’t appear to be a focal point of the Z790 refresh.
