ASUS flagship GPU now has a release date
The ROG Matrix GPU is set to launch on September 19.
ASUS has been teasing the ROG Matrix graphics card for several months. Although the card was officially unveiled in May of this year, no specific release date was provided at that time, except for a confirmation that it was scheduled for a Q3 launch. It seems that this commitment is set to be honored, as the card is now slated for a release on September 19.

The ROG Matrix has already been distributed to skilled overclockers who have managed to break world records, thanks to the card’s superior binning process and enhanced power delivery system. This highly customized model comes equipped with a substantial 360mm radiator designed for a liquid cooling system. The card also boasts a custom coldplate that securely attaches to the GPU die, VRM section, and memory chips.

In a contrast to most GPUs, the ROG Matrix employs liquid metal instead of traditional thermal paste, resulting in increased thermal conductivity. However, due to the absence of an integrated heat spreader (IHS) on most GPUs, preventing the liquid metal from coming into contact with other components is a complex challenge. ASUS has developed an application method that even allows the GPU to be installed vertically, as per ASUS’s claims. To achieve this, ASUS applies UV-resin around the GPU die, where capacitors are located. Furthermore, two protective layers have been incorporated between the die and the card’s PCB to guarantee that no liquid metal spillage occurs.

The RTX 4090 ROG Matrix has already been instrumental in achieving a new world record for GPU frequency, reaching an impressive 4230 MHz in GPUPI. However, this achievement required the sophisticated cooler to be disassembled, with liquid nitrogen being utilized instead.
As for pricing, details for the RTX 4090 ROG Matrix are not yet available; it remains to be announced. The launch event will be livestreamed, and it is scheduled for September 19 at 9:00 AM New York and 9:00 PM Taipei time.
