Radeon RX 7900 XTX Aqua with 255 MHz higher clock
Who says you can’t download free performance.
It is not common for graphics card makers to release BIOSes that increase performance of graphics card that had already launched. In most cases, graphics cards receive BIOS updates that address certain issues that cannot be resolved by a driver: fan speeds, voltage & clock tables, power distribution or display connector issues are the most common problems that are fixed with BIOS.
ASRock has just released a new BIOS for Radeon RX 7900 XTX Aqua OC, but this BIOS is not fixing anything. In fact, this BIOS will increase performance by introducing higher clocks:
- OLD BIOS Boost Clock: Up to 2680 MHz / 20 Gbps
- NEW BIOS Boost Clock: Up to 2935 MHz / 20 Gbps
That’s a massive 255 MHz increase, that ASRock claims will now deliver 13.5% higher performance compared to the AMD reference model. Do note that the company now recommends a 1000W power supply for the card to work properly.

It is worth saying that unsuccessful BIOS upgrades are not covered by the warranty. Furthermore, this BIOS requires users to upgrade to Radeon 23.5.1 driver before attempting to install the new BIOS. This might be due to the fact that this BIOS has a new entry for PCI Device ID this BIOS carries.
